This is a full-time, year-round position based in our home office in Berkeley, CA
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Junior Designer will contribute to the overall design process through concept, design development, and delivery of compelling visuals that primarily support our direct mail program, email, social media, and website. Help with the design and production of a range of marketing materials for our premier active travel brand. Leverage stunning imagery and stories steeped in incredible locations – all ready to be brought to life across various touch points from print to web, apparel and more!
You will work collaboratively within Marketing, our Trip Design team and company Founder. If you want a position where you craft amazing creations - this is the place.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Design & Production Teams and other key stakeholders throughout Backroads to deliver brand enhancing, innovative and effective marketing communications.
Share concepts cross-functionally and incorporate stakeholder input while maintaining brand guidelines and marketing creative point of view
Contribute to the maintenance and expansion of our in-house photo library
Understand emerging trends in design and how they can be leveraged to elevate our brand and differentiate us from competitors
Maintain absolute accuracy and attention to detail throughout the creative and production process
Leverage strategy, analytics and brand insights to influence designs
Spearhead email design from concept to completion, working with the copy writer to deliver compelling campaigns
Partner with the Social Media Manager to enhance the aesthetic of Backroads social media presence across multiple platforms while adhering to brand styles and guidelines
Work with the Travel Agency team to prepare materials for various trade shows, including brochures, postcards, booths, and miscellaneous swag
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the following areas:
Adobe creative suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop
Photo editing with an emphasis on color improvement
Publication development and design
A graphic design portfolio with a focus on print
Passion for design and innovation
Previous experience with product packaging in an in-house company/brand setting
A keen eye for photography, typography, color and composition skills required
Excellent vector art creation and manipulation
Excellent written and communication skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong design and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and deliver against strict deadlines
Must be a great team player who is wired to collaborate
