Job Description

Our New York City-based high-end residential design studio is seeking a Junior Designer/Project Manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who has at least 2-3 years’ experience in the field, is passionate about design, curious about art, and always willing to go the extra mile for colleagues and clients!

Key Junior Designer Responsibilities:

-Knows how to take complete, detailed Site Measurements & photo document new projects.
-Has a fresh, working knowledge drafting in AutoCAD including drafting plans, elevations, & sections.
-Has experience working with Studiodesigner purchasing software or has the willingness and eagerness to learn. We actively maintain records in Studio for each item – both in notes and codes section for all purchasing and tracking so anyone can look up status of an item at any given time.
-Experienced in Excel with creating and maintaining Project Schedules including Paint, Decorative Lighting, Hardware
-Familiarity putting together High End Residential decorative furnishing budgets for review by Senior Staff.
-Organization – Helps maintain project sample bins, ensures they are all labeled. Helps maintain organized project folders on the server.
-Flexibility – able to pivot for changing deadlines or when clients change their minds, willing & able to travel to sites, run errands,
-Familiarity with all phases of interior design projects – knows how to prioritize tasks of greatest importance to project schedule & is comfortable asking when unsure.
-Follow Up with vendors, contractors and/or trades regularly until we have quotes, responses answers etc. Does not require oversight to follow up.
-Detail oriented – takes detailed meeting notes, catches mistakes, makes sure all steps in process are followed. Follows office standards for where to save documents.
-Shows initiative – Doesn’t wait to take the next steps in the process to finding a solution (ie if a CFA arrives and dyelot is off- requests new cutting. Flags this for Senior Designer in the meantime. If a vintage piece gets sold, sources new options in the meantime while relaying to Senior Designer)

Other Duties:

• Fabric Shopping at D&D showrooms during project scheming
• Office Sample Library Organization, Labeling samples for project bins
• Requesting finish or fabric samples as needed by Design Team
• Placing Fabrics on reserve, requesting CFAs, reviewing CFAs and flagging dyelot issues to Senior Designer
• Placing holds on vintage items we are planning to purchase
• Requesting Formal Vendor Quotes, requesting additional information/specifications as requested by Design Team
• Assisting with printing materials for client presentations, neatly packing samples for site visits
• Calling showrooms for item pricing and lead time during sourcing phase
• Assisting with project tracking - checking on status of existing orders & updating design team
• Accurately inputting and formatting proposed items into Client Presentations using InDesign (including images, specifications, finishes, dimensions, net cost and lead time

Required Skills:

AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign + Photoshop, StudioDesigner, Microsoft Excel, Knowledge of or familiarity with NYC Design Showrooms
