Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our Product Development- Toy Team to help bring innovation and on-trend styling to the Infantino toy product line. Reporting to the Chief Designer/ Toy Category Captain, the Junior Product Designer will be responsible for managing the project through the entire design and development process in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will be a professional team player that can manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a timely manner, with the quality of attention-to detail in terms of product quality, cost, and development schedule. We seek someone with a fun whimsical feel to their designs and a strong interest to succeed in the infant toy world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Key focus on toy line, with a supporting role to assist with other categories.
• Work closely with the team to take products concepts from initial sketch to mass production, with a self-motivating and organized, entrepreneurial, approach.
• The ability to work on several projects simultaneously with strong visual communication techniques to translate your ideas to the rest of the team.
• Build on Infantino design language and extrapolate across new products, materials, and categories. Establish and articulate elements of brand continuity. At the same time, you are driven to push for the next evolutionary steps of brand aesthetics with a consumer-centric design process.
• Work closely with the product development team and management, you’ll refine existing products on an ongoing basis to improve¬ functionality, tailor fit, reduce defects, reduce cost, streamline manufacturing, and keep design details fresh.
• Develop an intimate familiarity with the existing Infantino product line to drive running changes, design updates, performance improvements and line expansion. Work closely with the support team, including development designers and engineers in overseas office to evaluate ongoing design needs and implement changes as needed.
• Manage development samples to ensure that quality, feature, and material standards are met.
• Good understanding of materials, prototyping, and manufacturing processes, along with willingness to learn new processes.
• Demonstrated ability to apply brand philosophy to product design.
• Stay on top of daily communication with Asia cross functional team.

Requirements:
• BSA or BFA in Industrial Design, Toy Design, or related design field.
• 1-3 years’ experience in the toy industry, Juvenile category is a plus.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with basic knowledge in Microsoft suite
• Strong with on-trend artistic styling and conceptualization skills to bring ideas and characters to life through sketches and digital renderings.
• Strong sketching ability to allow for quick explorations into multiple design directions.
• Have knowledge of basic plush and soft/hard plastic toy development processes including research, concept prototypes, user testing, basic safety parameters, and through manufacturing stages.
• Self-motivated, organized and the ability to excel both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to be flexible with a can-do attitude and willingness to explore and pivot to new ideas.
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel domestically with possibility of occasional international travel.
