Nestled between the Gies College of Business, the College of Applied Health Sciences, Ikenberry Commons, and the Art + Design building - with the College of Education and the UIUC athletic complexes a short distance away - Siebel Center for Design is at a crossroads on our campus, and is a catalyst for and driver of multidisciplinary collaboration and study. Our 60,000 square foot facility provides space for programming, instruction, prototyping, events, meetings, and more, and serves as a human-centered design focal point bringing together people from all disciplines, cultures, and realities.
Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) invites applications for a Lecturer or an Instructor position. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable appointment on a 12-month service basis. The incumbent will carry out responsibilities related to teaching and design thinking and human-centered design. This position focuses on teaching the core courses developed by SCD in design thinking and human-centered design to support a variety of efforts on campus related to certificates, minor and major programs offered at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The selected candidate will join a growing multidisciplinary and collaborative team engaged in human-centered design in higher education.

The title of Instructor requires a Bachelor's degree in design, fine arts, or a related discipline. The title of Lecturer requires a terminal degree (PhD, MFA, MDes, or equivalent) in design, fine arts, or a related discipline. Applicants must also have experience in teaching design thinking or human-centered design. Three to five years of experience is preferred.
