PRODUCT MANAGER, LATIN AMERICA & CARIBBEAN (LAC), EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA (EMEA) PROGRAMS

Position Overview

The Product Manager, Latin America Caribbean (LAC), Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Programs, is responsible for executing compelling core and seasonal product assortments and SMU (Special Make Up) programs to support global growth opportunities for the Specialty Coffee business unit.  You are a Product Manager with a proven track record of bringing innovative, trend-right products to market that delight the consumer and enhance the customer’s brands.  This role requires a creative thinker capable of supporting development of winning products and programs for our customers which drive incremental sales and increased market share.  Your collaborative approach allows you to connect with the customer, understand their needs and influence decisions.  You can align to the strategy while executing the details. You are just as comfortable behind the scenes working with internal cross functional teams to bring assortments and seasonal programs to life, as you are managing the master internal schedule. Your contributions to presentations of program assortments will be shared with various levels of management, both internally and externally.      

 Responsibilities

Grow and develop our product assortment of SMUs; meeting and exceeding the needs of consumers and customers. The Product Manager drives internal project and sampling timelines in alignment with customer timelines and the global program priority.

In the area of core and seasonal product assortment development, responsible for ensuring the product and feature set align to program brief and objectives, cost tiers, the consumer and customer quality expectations and working with the internal cross functional team (Planning, Graphics, Packaging Design, CMF and Supply Chain) to launch new SMU products.

Drive execution of Specialty Coffee programs, being a strong ambassador of the customer and advocate for the needs of LAC and EMEA consumers, while balancing the needs of the Specialty Coffee business unit according to the global program priority.

Manage packaging development and sourcing and submit packaging and new CMF for customer approval. This includes all new CMF treatments, multipacks packaging, product packaging, and product instructions and all necessary translated text.

Responsible for communicating and tracking customer and internal timelines for product assortments and SMU programs.

Collaborate with Supply Chain and Sales teams to achieve costing for SMU product assortments and SMU programs that meet cost targets and program expectations.

Work closely with the Graphics team to contribute to the creation of high level, visually impactful presentations to showcase core and seasonal product assortments and SMU programs to customers. Responsible for power point presentation content validation and accuracy.

Maintain all product assortment and SMU development tracking tools and required customer spreadsheets in a timely and efficient manner: ensure sample request forms, packaging request forms, prototype request forms, graphics service requests, and smartsheet trackers are complete and accurate.

Scope, conduct and apply market and trend research and analyses to better understand LAC and EMEA consumer preferences, needs, wants and competitive retail environments so as to support critical business decision making.

Actively participate in product development cross training and ideation sessions as needed with the Product Management, Design, R&D and Engineering Teams.

Actively participate in new CMF (Color Material and Finish) development as needed.  Proactively submit new treatment and finish requests to the CMF team.

Responsible for competitive shopping in the marketplace seeking out new trends, functionality, color, material, and finish ideas to enhance future product assortments and SMU programs.

Proficiencies

Passion and desire to work with consumer products.
Analytical and strategic capabilities; manage high level overview and provide direction to the cross functional team.
Self-driven and independent creative thinking.
Strong understanding of principles of the Product Development process, Project Management, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing and in person.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all organization levels – including international teams.
Strong analytical ability with active listening skills.
Highly proficient with Smartsheet's, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, is a plus but not required.
Self-starting, self-managing, detail-oriented, and time-bound.
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks with exceptional time-management skills.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
Patient and positive attitude a must; neatness and punctuality important.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Can work effectively under pressure.

Education and Experience 

Bachelor and/or master’s degree in Marketing or specific Product Management Training.

5+ years’ work experience contributing to product development with consumer hard goods brand experience:
Experience managing multiple products and customer programs on schedule, in parallel on the same timeline.
Proven track record building new and maintaining existing product categories.

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:
Understanding of basic financial and business principles.
Passion for product (and product development).
Exceptional cross-functional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Proficiency in Smartsheets and Microsoft Office suite
Adept at managing priorities in development.
Ability to self-manage large amounts of information and catch errors.

 Reports To:  Product Management Director, Specialty Coffee
   Work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with moderate background noise.
