Job Description

We are looking for a full-time (or open to part-time for 25+ hrs a week) creative director with a strong background of designing world-class brands and e-commerce experiences to both help provide creative direction to our design team and interface with clients to ensure their goals and desires are exceeded.

By working with Powerhouse, you will be working with a small team that strives to produce world-class work. This role is remote, so you will have a lot of autonomy of your time but will be expected to help produce world-class work.


- Put together mood boards to present different visual directions to clients
- Direct design team and create briefs for freelancers (illustrators, copywriters, photographers, etc…) to execute on a project’s creative vision from idea to launch
- Provide daily feedback to design team to ensure designs will meet client’s goals and meet best-in-class design standards for direct-to-consumer design
- Translate and synthesize client feedback into clear and actionable notes for design team
- Collaboratively work with Project Manager, QA, and Dev Team to ensure that websites are executed to meet our creative standard
- Confidently present creative work to clients
- Oversee or directly execute the writing of copy for new case studies and brand books


- Experience overseeing or designing at least 3+ e-commerce websites, ideally on Shopify. You should understand the basics of designing websites that convert and what can / can’t be done on Shopify from a design perspective.
- Experience directing other designers and creatives to create world-class brand and digital executions
- Strong design chops prior to being a creative director. While the majority of your responsibilities will be creative direction, you should feel confident getting your hands dirty with occasionally executing design ideas or tweaks at a top-tier design standard.
- Comfortable presenting creative work to clients and stakeholders
- Self-starter that is comfortable working remotely, both autonomously and in collaboration with people in different timezones
- Must be comfortable working in Sketch, Photoshop, and Keynote. Must know way around Illustrator and Invision.


- You have not designed or overseen at least 2+ eCommerce websites (ideally on Shopify)
- You do not have strong visual design skills as a foundation prior to being a creative director
- You have not directed or managed other designers.
