Job Description

Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc is looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer who has extensive illustration skills and experience designing a collection of Girls toys and/or children’s products to work in our St. Louis headquarters. This particular Senior Product Designer will handle the design responsibilities for the Girls consumer group along with other programs & special projects as needed. The Senior Product Designer will also be accountable for providing daily work direction for their partnered Designer/Associate Designer. Responsibilities:
• Partner with Brand & Product Managers to understand relevant categories of guests to reach with product, review industry publications and relevant markets for toy trends, play patterns, technology, materials, design methods & techniques, and pop culture.
• Partner with internal Brand, Marketing & Product teams to understand consumer and market insights. Partner with Product & Brand Managers to identify key segments to target for given line to support strategic brief.
• Brainstorm and create cohesive ideas for category, including but not limited to color pallets and materials.
• Collaborate with Product & Brand Managers to confirm the product is suitable for the necessary channels for which it is being developed.
• Creation & versioning of all artwork concepts through detailed hand and digital sketch renderings for Plush, Clothing, Accessories, and Footwear within our own IP & licensed products.
• Ensure design will work within current value engineering parameters. Partner with internal product development and sourcing partners to ensure the design & material types are executable within our vendor matrix. Handoff detailed design briefs to Product Developers.
• Work with internal quality team to ensure the safety of designs. Collaborate with licensors on specified licensed properties to ensure design relevance & compliance.
• Create detailed thematic presentation boards with hand & electronic renderings, swatches & material references. Present to all levels of management.
• Provide daily work direction for partnered Designer/Associate Designer in support of department goals.
• Manage multiple projects and assignments for self and partnered Designer/Associate Designer.
• Meet all design, product, calendar, and revenue goals.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Girls Toys or relevant Art, Fashion/Product Design
• Experience working with licensed product preferred
• Must be proficient in Adobe CS6or higher – Illustrator/Photoshop
• Strong ability to create both hand and electronic designs
• Solid awareness of Girls product and industry trends
• Experience working in Product Life Management, WebPDM systems or similar
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint
• Persuasive communication and strong presentation skills
• Highly creative with the flexibility to adapt to change
• Ability to form strong collaborative partnership with peers
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint
