The Sr. Product Designer, Eyewear is responsible for developing eyewear from initial concept through production handoff. This includes translating research, references, and 2D sketches into clear eyewear designs with strong proportion, fit, construction, and brand alignment. This role works across frame fronts, lens shapes, bridges, temples, hinges, nose pads, hardware, materials, colors, and finishes. The designer will support the development of sunglasses and optical frames by creating sketches, design callouts, sample comments, and factory-facing notes while maintaining the original design intent throughout the sampling and production process.
Over time, this person should be able to take more ownership of the eyewear design process and help build a stronger system for developing new styles.
This person will also support the brand across packaging, accessories, product launches, and broader product-related creative needs.
Responsibilities
- Own the eyewear design process from initial concept through production handoff, including research, sketching, design refinement, sample review, and final approvals.
- Communicate with factories and production partners to make sure design intent, fit, construction, materials, hardware, and sample revisions are clearly understood.
- Keep the product development process organized, including design files, references, sample comments, revision history, timelines, and factory feedback.
- Work directly with the founder to translate brand direction, references, and product goals into original sunglasses and optical frame designs.
- Support packaging, accessories, and other product-related creative projects as needed, while keeping eyewear design as the primary focus.
- Day-to-day work may include a mix of independent design work, founder reviews, team meetings, factory communication, research, sample organization, and cross-functional creative support.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in eyewear design, product design, accessories design, industrial design, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of eyewear design, including frame construction, fit, proportion, materials, hardware, and production feasibility.
- Ability to develop sunglasses and optical frames from concept through production-ready design.
- Strong sketching ability and ability to quickly explore multiple design directions.
- Experience communicating design revisions to factories, vendors, or production partners.
- Strong organization skills across design files, references, samples, revisions, timelines, and feedback.
- Strong taste, research habits, and ability to translate references into original product ideas.
- Resourceful and research-driven, with the ability to dig beyond obvious references and bring back useful insights, visual direction, product ideas, and practical solutions.
- Ability to work closely with a founder-led creative process
- Comfortable working in a small team environment and willing to support across eyewear design, product development, research, production, and broader creative projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 3D modeling or rendering experience for eyewear, accessories, jewelry, or small objects.
- Experience with Rhino, Blender, KeyShot, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CLO, or similar 3D/rendering tools.
- Experience designing metal hardware, hinges, decorative temple details, mixed-material construction, or jewelry-like product details.
- Experience working directly with eyewear factories in China, Japan, Italy, or other production markets.
- Mandarin communication ability is a plus, but not required.
- Must be able to work in person for design reviews, sample reviews, product development meetings, and other key creative or production discussions.
- Must be comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team where priorities can shift and direct communication is expected.

- $85,000–$110,000 depending on experience
- Full-time, Los Angeles-based
