The Lumistella Company is looking for a Senior Production Artist to join our team! The Senior Production Artist is responsible for creating print-ready art files according to brand guidelines for all of The Lumistella Company brands for packaging and print product needs, while ensuring brand consistency for all product categories. This process involves the creation of accurate high-quality mechanicals and the modification or reconfiguration of existing packaging structures.
The Senior Production Artists primary focus is producing technically accurate art on digital die-lines for final file release to production. In addition, their duties will include developing and maintaining the digital templates used in all art creation. This position will be responsible for uploading and tracking all final artwork releases, as well as reviewing and commenting on all digital and physical press proofs and relaying changes back to printers. He/she also assists in mocking up prototypes for packaging, proofing artwork mechanicals, and printers proofs.
The Senior Production Artist closely collaborates with the Director of Packaging and Creative Team members to help set project timelines and ensure final products are accurate. He/She also assists in developing and putting forth process improvements for cross-functional teams, to ensure all projects follow set timelines and held to our high-quality standards.

The Senior Production Artists duties and responsibilities-
• Creates final packaging art files for printing purposes and certifies that files meet printing specs;
• Routes art files to stakeholders in Workfront; Partners with multiple departments to ensure all information is represented and approved; Ensures all revisions are made to packaging art files;
• Accurately prepares and pre-flights final artwork files and certifies that files contain all required elements;
• Releases art files to vendor for both sampling and production;
• Adapts designs to several SKUs within the product line, following and maintaining existing brand and style guidelines;
• Updates packaging art files for reprints as needed;
• Assists the Director of Packaging and Packaging team on creating new and update existing packaging style guides;
• Supports Art, Illustration, PD and Licensing teams preparing printer ready art files for multiple pieces;
• Works closely with the Director of Packaging and team to ensure brand adherence, legal compliance, quality and mechanical accuracy of artwork;
• Reviews proofs submitted by printers for 100% accuracy;
• Builds comps and 3D mockups for internal review within the Art department;
• Supports Sales and Marketing teams with mockups, presentation boards and prototypes as needed;
• Collaborates with internal team members on process development and improvements;
• Maintains and monitors all schedules to ensure adherence to deadlines. Assist Packaging team, PD and Project manager with monitoring workflow by utilizing Workfront management so that goals & schedules are met;
• Maintains organization of all electronic files & paper files as prescribed in established system by following standard work processes;
• Assists with the organization, maintenance, and archiving of proofs, packaging art files and samples;
• Provides weekly status updates to Director of Packaging on all projects, evaluating progress and suggesting solutions to any outstanding issues or noting areas for process improvement;
• Assist Packaging team, PD and Project manager with monitoring workflow by utilizing Workfront management so that goals & schedules are met; and
• Protects company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to company policy with regard to information security and management.

If you want to be one of us...
The ideal Senior Production Artist will bring:
• A minimum of 7-10 years experience in graphic print production;
• 5-7 years packaging-related work experience;
• Expert understanding of the of the various printing processes, materials and the creation of art files for printing of both primary and secondary packaging;
• Solid understanding of packaging design, including mastery of die-lines (capable of executing modifications, scaling, and adaptations), structural configuration and 3D forms, and experience with visual identity, branding guidelines, compliance, and design systems for packaging;
• Exceptional attention to detail required with the ability to discern subtle differences in various pieces to ensure accuracy and brand compliance;
• Expert knowledge in MAC operating systems of Photoshop and Acrobat. Mastery of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign required;
• Technical aptitude with the ability to prepare, package, and pre-flight files for production purposes and proven experience proofreading artwork mechanicals and printers proofs;
• Strong layout skills and design sensibilities with solid understanding of typography, layout and brand identity principles and distinct passion for packaging demonstrated via a strong portfolio showcasing packaging samples and design process;
• Experience mocking up packaging and displays and working regularly with cutting tools (X-Acto knife)
• Experience in the consumer products industry required; General knowledge of toys and/or childrens books preferred;
• Working knowledge use of Microsoft Office SuiteWord, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required and internet savvy;
• Solid planning and organizational skills, including a pro-active ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesmust thrive in a fast-paced environment with short turnaround times and multiple simultaneous project demands;
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly, verbally and visually, and willingness to receive team member feedback or criticism;
• Highly skilled with project plans and creative problem solving with professional sense of urgency for task completion and communicationability to take initiative and work independently;
• Ability to understand roles and responsibilities of team members within different functional areas of the project team and how and when they contribute to each phase of packaging design projects;
• Resourceful and cooperative in working with team members to obtain information, gain alignment and to keep projects moving;
• Experience working with translation agencies a plus; and
• Knowledge of software specific for packaging and structural design like CAD, EngView Package Designer Suite, or ArtiosCAD, and other 3D software a plus.

BA/BS degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred; Bachelors Degree in Packaging Design or Graphic Design with emphasis on Packaging preferred.

• Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
• Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, and manual dexterity for working with computer keyboards.
• Requires the ability to use paper/board cutting tools (X-Acto knife) to assemble mockups.
• Position requires presence in the office consistent with the companys Work from Home policy and whenever necessary to fulfill the functions of the role.
