Responsible for researching, creating, and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, ergonomics, value, and appearance of physical, hardware products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and business. Work within this job family falls into three major categories: (1) enhancements- changes to original design and extensions to existing programs. (2) new physical product designs (3) strategic design – new or improved physical design language, portfolio design, design archetypes, etc.

How you’ll make your mark:

By leading multiple project teams of other designers and internal and outsourced partners responsible for all stages of industrial design and development for a portfolio of complex products and platforms, including design architecture, language, validation, and specifications.
You will demonstrate knowledge of human factors design principles and usability testing methods, as well as a keen understanding of the product development process for consumer and industrial products, as well as design controls.
You'll manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced partners on industrial design and development.
You'll review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with industrial design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and user experience.
You will provide domain-specific expertise and overall industrial design leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
You will drive innovation and integration of new technologies and design language into projects and activities in the industrial design organization.

About you:

You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial or Product Design or equivalent.
You have 6-10 years of work experience.
You have broad experience with application of design theories, principles, and concepts to a portfolio of multiple information technology and consumer product designs
You will evaluate and select 2-D and 3-D CAD tools and software packages for product design across portfolio Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
You have a broad understanding and experience in methodologies for design testing and validation, including sketches, models, storyboards, and prototyping.
