About the Role
You’ll work on the newest brand from Harry's Inc. for 4+ months [potential to extend, or move to full-time] as the first dedicated digital product designer post-launch. We’ll partner on ideating, defining, + executing on bringing to life the next iteration of the Headquarters DTC experience. Working with our DTC, Engineering, and Creative teams, you’ll help build a delightful and best-in-class web experience for our customers.

Launched in Jan '21, as the the newest brand developed by Harry’s Inc., Headquarters is a best-in-class haircare brand inspired by the needs of real women, a ton of research and a lot of love. Some people might call us “root-obsessed,” and they’re right—we know that a great head of hair starts with healthy roots.

Our growing team includes some of the best minds (& heads of hair) in R&D, insights, marketing, and beyond. We know that hair isn’t everything… but it’s still a big deal in our book. It’s a source of comfort with the potential to totally reinvent how we see ourselves.

What You’ll Accomplish
Learn deeply and directly from our customer via user testing, market research, + customer research, then become her primary advocate with an ability to think in her shoes at all times
Leverage this understanding to help ideate and define product requirements by collaborating with Product and Design, leveraging low-fi sketches, wireframes, and prototypes early on
Develop new primary user journey / flow for Headquarters (Hair/scalp quiz ? quiz recommendation)
Reconsider and refresh a range of other pages on the site based on updates to our packaging + style guide
Work closely with partners in Product + Front-End Development to understand technical requirements and opportunities, seeing your design through to completion and beyond
Take an existing brand and lead bringing it to life through user-centric digital design + UI iteration collaboratively with the Creative team
Identify current gaps / areas for improvement within today’s DTC experience
Partner on defining broader direction for larger features / offerings to launch in the longer-term (e.g. via research, testing, iteration)

Who You Are
User-centric thinker who’s curious and relentless about understanding her needs, then figuring out how to create something amazing for her
Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to be meticulous on complex pieces of work and mundane tasks
Empathetic communicator, with the ability to work closely with developers, product managers, + creatives to define requirements and bring designs to life
Enjoy testing & learning - especially via qualitative insights (e.g. conducting 1:1 interviews, writing testing scripts, etc.), then synthesizing in a data-driven way to drive to actionable recommendations
Open to engaging early on in the design process, brainstorming, ideating, + sharing wireframes / prototypes to gather input, align thinking, and get to the right decisions
Designer who creates functional + delightful designs for the user; thinking information architecture, hierarchy, user flows and UI patterns (especially mobile-first) are second nature to you
Collaborative partner, open to receiving and providing feedback from teammates
Able to move quickly, be nimble, working to deadlines + re-prioritizing when required; comfortable when not everything is figured out
Experience working within a grid-based design system, with an understanding of atomic design principles + building a scalable set of components
Demonstrable experience using Figma to design products, including familiarity with component libraries, variants, + auto-layout
Able to understand why you designed something the way you did, speaking to the “why” with peers
Enjoys consumer / DTC brands, with a finger on pulse of women’s brands
Partner with Creative team to understand brand direction / evolution, thought partner on bringing to life visually via digital experience
3+ years of experience as a UX designer, UX/UI designer, product designer, or similar; some experience in web and/or app development
Online portfolio demonstrates ability to turn high-level vision into strong and unique UX, with examples of user flows, wireframes + documentation demonstrating your design thinking and ability to tell a user story
You’re all around awesome with a great sense of humor
