In this position, you will create or evolve dynamic interfaces, interactive media, and ICW content to support multiple projects under NAWCAD WOLF ASI, associated DoD/Federal programs, and NAS Pax River. These include in-house products supporting training, IETMs, information fusion websites. The ideal candidate is someone who is excited about Product Design as a career path and has some design experience and/or a background in technology. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a systems design, user experience, software architecture, systems analysis, information processing, science, media development, or business analytics with at least 5 years’ experience, an Associates in a relevant field as described earlier with at least 8 years’ experience, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 11 years’ experience. A relevant professional certification may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and able to qualify for a Security Clearance. Active Security Clearance is a plus. Position may require travel up to 15% of the time, mostly local within 100 miles of St. Mary’s MD.
Required Skills:
At least 4 years of experience as a user experience designer, user story development/requirements elaboration, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.
Experience with evolutionary design
Experience with upgrade and/or re-envisioning legacy systems and websites.
Experience with atomic design or highly systematized design methodology.
Experience with UX research methodologies (e.g. card sorting, journey mapping, user flows)
Experience with design thinking or similar consensus building exercises.
Excellent organizational skills.
Experience soliciting and integrating inputs from diverse communities of practice.
Experience balancing unified presentation and role optimized presentations within project technical, budget, and schedule constraints.
Additional desired experience includes:
Experience working with remote teams and stakeholders.
Web application development spanning UI development, development of visual/interactive representation for complex data sets, and infrastructure.
A confident presenter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of standards-driven CSS, HTML and Javascript.
Experience designing websites and digital products for global distributed and/or DoD audiences.
Ability to communicate technical issues, user goals and implementations bidirectionally across non-technical users and technical solution developers.
Experience working with Agile development teams.

Modeling personas, task archetypes, and user stories based on quantitative and qualitative data to inform design strategy and execution.
Delivering sitemaps, user journeys, wireframes and components with detailed documentation.
Moderating design-thinking exercises to align on approach and execution.
Working alongside engineers, content strategists, and project managers to ensure design addresses technical and content requirements and constraints.
Performing functional QA inputs and testability planning development through development cycle.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously on assignments that range from small updates to larger complex systems.
Advocate for thoughtful design solutions through informed rationale.
