Metal Egg - Rendering Lesson - This is a final rendering from a lesson I created for the Advanced Solidworks course I teach at Pratt. Modeled and rendered using Solidworks. Depth of field, soft shadows, indirect illumination, and layered custom-made physical textures were used to add photo-realism to the rendered image.
Gatorade Bottle - Modeled in Solidworks. Textures created in CS3. Rendered in Alias. This project was to create luscious renderings of several families of package design concepts. All the concepts are confidential, so this rendering of an existing sport-drink bottle is to show the lighting, materials, and render settings used to create the ultra-realistic final images.
Fuji Camera - I often show this model to my advanced Solidworks students as an example of using lots of small easy steps to create a very beautiful complex model. Using almost entirely simple functions, like extrudes and revolves, this highly realistic and detailed model of a camera was built in approximately 20 hours.
Chess Set - This image is from a school project I did as a student in 2000 in my beginner Alias class. The lesson was on revolves and CV manipulation. I know use this lesson in my Alias classes to show how both complex and elegant forms can be made using simple tools in a clever way.
