LaserJet 4200/4300 - The first project that I managed from concept to public release was the HP LaserJet
4200/4300. Released in 2002, the HP LaserJet 4200/4300 replaced the highly
successful LaserJet 4000 series monochrome workgroup products. With sales of
up to 40,000 units per month, this product is one of HP's best selling laser printers.
LaserJet 4200/4300 - The HP LaserJet 4200/4300 has proven to be a commercial and critical
success. The product appearance and peformance received rave reviews
at Comdex 2002. Nevertheless, the LaserJet 4200/4300 was one of the
final products designed before the HP corporate design language was
introduced. Future products would look and feel very different.
LaserJet 3700/3720 - The HP LaserJet 3700/3720 is an in-line color laser printer for the
workgroup. The mechanical layout of this printer had been defined
prior to my involvement, so the proportions of the product were quite
challenging (tall and wide, but quite shallow). One of my main
objectives was to create lines that countered the awkward dimensions,
creating the illusion of a more cubical product. Other challenges
included cartridge access door design, control panel layout and
position, and media output bin usability.
