DocGoFast Street Luge (suspension version) - An assembly model of the world's first suspension street luge. Developed as a bold exploration of the power and capabilities of mid-range CEA/CAD tools; this project did without any physical prototypes\testing. Data from virtual test runs down a 3D model of San Francisco's Taylor Street made for remarkably accurate predictions of its real world performance as it dominated competition during its debut at the inaugural Red Bull Streets of San Francisco race during the late nineties.
Two Finished Carbon Fiber Aero Helmets - Limited production carbon fiber helmets that I designed and manufactured for the sport of pro downhill skateboard racing. In satisfying the helmet's radical design intent of a speed augmentation device, a stability/control surface and critical safety device required extensive wind tunnel testing and the pioneering use of advanced materials, and led to numerous innovations in applied aerodynamics and composites manufacturing in addition to setting world speed records and dominating the sport.
Rock Crawler Suspension System (Awarded US Pat No: 6,354,614) - Of the dozens of high performance, off-road suspensions that I designed and launched into production during my tenure with Rancho Suspension, this one remains my fondest due to the challenge of solving the inversely proportional relationship of the design objectives that required: 1)The extraordinary suspension articulation needed for rock crawling. 2)Yet retain the vehicle's OEM ride, stability, and safety characteristics on the street/highway. I was also awarded a US Patent for my solution.
Aero Helmet in action - Of the countless gold medals, world championships, and world speed records credited to my helmets; its flawless safety record gives me the greatest sense of pride--no rider outfitted with one of my helmets has ever sustained any head or neck trauma in a fall/crash in its 10+ year history. ABOVE: Multi-time X-Games & Gravity Games Gold medalists, Biker Sherlock and Todd Lehr in perfect form with their Aero Helmets during practice.
DocGoFast Full Suspension Street Luge - The real world success of the full suspension street luge demonstrated the viability of a pure simulation based product development exercise and prompted MSC Software to feature it as the cornerstone of their 1999/2000 Visual NASTRAN/Working Model 4D marketing campaign.
During its 5 year production run, the DocGoFast Street Luge was the winningest luge in the world-wide pro ranks of the sport.
