Mission Ocean (published by Adventerra Games) is a board game for preschoolers designed to teach them how important it is to preserve our oceans and protect marine animals from plastic pollution.
I have been involved in the development of this game from an early stage.
I started by collecting information on the marine pollution topic in order to set the learning goals and get some inspiration about the marine environment.
I came up with three initial proposals and then I further developped one of them by defining the core mechanics and game materials. The final game instructions were established by the company after several playtest. In the meanwhile I was involved in the design of the cardboard ship consisting of flat pieces to be assembled. Finally the cheerful illustrations by Silvia Sponza completed the game beautifully.
