Chicago Parks: The Backyards We All Share at CAS/PNNM

This 2017 2D show project was a collaboration between the Chicago Academy of Sciences / Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and the Chicago Park District. My contact at the Park District supplied images of parks from all around Chicago in all seasons.

This show was installed in the Marquee Gallery outside of the Museum's temporary exhibition hall for the duration of "Backyard Adventures." The primary purpose was to highlight the Chicago Park District's many outdoor spaces as communal urban backyards.

For one wall-mounted case I selected symbols of Chicago's connection to nature from CAS/PNNM collections. Chicago's official flower is the chrysanthemum, a nonnative plant. Chicago's official bird is the peregrine falcon, a once-common native bird that is making a comeback thanks to reintroduction programs.
