PaleoLab at UO MNCH

The PaleoLab exhibit series explored Oregon's paleobiology. "Whales of Deep Time" was on view from January to June 2010. "Horses and Grasslands" showed from August 2010 to April 2011.

As Exhibitions Coordinator, I participated in all stages of exhibit production from conceptual design through installation and maintenance. I conducted research, wrote and edited copy, assisted with graphic design, managed procurement and vendor relations, and processed contracts for loan objects in accordance with State of Oregon regulations. I fabricated and installed acrylic, ethafoam and fabric mounts for fossils on display, patched and painted walls and casework, edited short videos, and wrote and designed a fossil identification brochure and children's guidebook.

I introduced 3D modeling with SketchUp for these exhibits, revolutionizing the exhibit design process at MNCH.

The exhibits were so popular that we reused many elements in MNCH's new natural history wing "Explore Oregon," opened in 2014.
