To commemorate 15 years of community service and support of the Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH) at the University of Pennsylvania, I am collaborated with fellow student coordinator, Michael Karam, Peter Van Do (PAACH Director), and Katheryn Sclavi (local artist) to bring students, alumni, and all interested together to create a patchwork quilt. This year-long project of making and coming together was called "Patch for PAACH".
We asked contributors to submit fabric patches that have stories behind them. Current students and PAACH visitors also had the chance to drop by the center to sew on a patch and/or embroider a design onto a patch. By June 2015, community and fibers artist, Kat Sclavi, finshed off the quilt in her studio in New York.
The final piece wase presented at PAACH's 15th Anniversary Celebration on November 7th, 2015.
