For the nhow Amsterdam Rai hotel rooms I have created 6 models of mural for printing on fabric and subsequent mounting as bed headboards and 6 models of wallpapers for the wall coverings and carpets in the rooms. The creative concept of the mixture of world cultures, which serves as a common thread for the hotel’s imaginary, is catalysed in these proposals through compositions in a marked Pop Art style.
Each mural model shows a character representative of one of the world’s cultures. Each character is associated with a pattern that accompanies him or her across the walls and carpet of the room and “invades” parts of the collage itself, establishing a dialogue between character and form that builds a modern cultural representation.
SOUTH ROOMS
I bring the essence of Africa to the present in this contemporary Pop composition that mixes earthy tones with shades of vivid colours creating an ethnic polychrome that reflects the joy and vitality characteristic of its cultures.
