Wynwood is a unique neighborhood in Miami home to art galleries, vintage retail shops, and eclectic bars. Most of all, it is known for the rehabilitation of neglected warehouses and unused buildings and the transformation of them into creative business places. We took the same idea for our culinary institute, using an existing warehouse for a market portion and added a culinary institute. Our school has a a symbiotic relationship to the market as it preserves the existing structure and adds 5 floors of classrooms, kitchens, exhibit spaces, workshops, and a restaurant. The striking design is meant to incorporate the artistic and experimental atmosphere of the neighborhood and attract people to collaborate in its courtyard and market. In comprehensive studio we delved into design as well as Structural, HVAC, Life Safety, and Construction Document analysis. I collaborated with Sarah Potter.
