Strawbale

Straw has also been used throughout history as a seat and mattress padding, then covered in fabric to keep the straw in place. My chair utilizes straw in this way but rather than hiding the straw it is exposed and uses twine to keep the straw in place. This chair highlights the aesthetic and textural assets of straw and lets the viewer see the raw beauty of this material. This construction of the upholstery can be applied using a wide variety of natural fibers not just straw.
