Taking MARTA - in addition to being a good carry-on, our luggage had to be easy to transport on buses and in cars, on the way to and from the airport.
The building process
Our wheelchair-attachment hook mechanism allowed the bag to roll fairly smoothly behind the wheelchair user as they traveled.
The front part of the luggage detached to become a personal bag/lap tray, for use on the airplane, allowing the user to put the main bag in the overhead while keeping their phone, magazines, etc. with them.

Universal Luggage

Spring 2015
Team members: DeJon Tebought, Sera Paek
The goal of this project was to create carry-on luggage that could be universally used. We tested our luggage with wheelchair users at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Our design includes 360 caster wheels, an adjustable-angle handle, and a removable portion on the front of the bag that can hold ID, boarding pass, laptop, etc, and function as a lap tray.
