Character design as well as color palette was a big part of my pre-production work
My main character - "girl"
Here are a few storyboards - I wanted to approximate the colors, level of detail and movement that I wanted in the final product. Turns out that my final stills were both less detailed and more detailed than my storyboards.
Storyboard of the cemetery scene
Alongside of storyboarding, I had to finalize my color palettes and world design - what were the spaces my character were inhabiting? How did they explain the mindset of the characters? How could the different scenes be both distinctive and cohesive?
My design included elements that weren't ever on "camera", yet I found it helpful to depict the color and style of the whole world - like this oyster tableau.

Au Cimetière - An Animated Short

I wrote, directed, edited and animated this short film. It took months of prep and included hand painting over 1200 frames. The subject matter was deeply personal, and the project was a labor of love.
