Lenovo ThinkPad External Optical Drive
The goal for this project was to create a drive with a premium aesthetic to be used alongside The X1 carbon laptop. The X1, with its thin modern design, was a main design reference along with other ThinkPad and non ThinkPad products. Being an ultra portable device an integrated USB cable was necessary to help make transport easy.
The design is simple, clean and will never look out of place alongside any ThinkPad laptops that no longer have an internal optical drive. Painted surfaces match the color scheme of the latest X1 Carbon laptop and have a premium feel. The single folded cable fits snuggly in the back of the device and is nicely sized for use with a laptop or USB dock.
