So this is the scene I wanted to use. (the one were the main character Rose asks Jack to draw her only wearing the necklace). I chose this scene because both the drawing and the necklace plays a big part of the narrative in Titanic.
This was my first sketch of what I wanted my poster to look like.
working progress, but at this point the necklace was taking too much of the attention
at this point I was done with my design, but I still wasn't quite pleased with the look. It was "too clean" to look add. So I started playing around with some different layers.
This is the final poster! I added an layer that makes it look "older" and gives the entire picture a freezing effect. And if one hasn't noticed by now there is actually an inceberg hidden inside of the necklace for those with sharp eyes. "Draw me like one of your french girls" is a quote from the movie and as mentioned before I'd rather have something like that, than the title of the movie. To me the minimalist poster (apart from the obivious style) also being able to convey something without actually mentioning the name.

Poster assignment

For my poster I wanted to do something that was recognizable, but I didn't want to go with the obvious. So even though I went with a minimalist poster of Titanic, I decided NOT to do an iceberg. Instead I chose an important scene from the movie and tried not to mention the title of the movie, yet still make the reference strong enough so an audience still would be able to tell which movie it is.
