History of Costume Illustrated Digital Vocabulary List CH 3

This statue depicts a women wearing a Doric Chiton which was made from wool, linen, or silk and pined at the shoulder with a fibula (pin). The Doric Chiton is narrower than the Ionic Chiton, but is still looser than the Hellenistic Chiton. This would have been worn by women in Greece from 400 B.C. to 300 B.C as everyday dress.
