History of Costume Illustrated Digital Vocabulary List CH 7

The image above is a painting of Bianca Maria Sforza, by Ambrogio de Predis, from 1493. The woman picture wears a ferroniere, which was a chain of metal worn across the forehead that was decorated with a jewel over the center of the forehead. She is also wearing a fine mesh netting over her hair called crespinette. Her white camicia can be seen through the lacing at the sleeve and bodice. Dress like this was worn by women during the early Italian Renaissance.
