O-Boy is a satellite-connected emergency smartwatch designed and engineered by Futurewave for extreme and remote environments where mobile networks are unavailable. The device transmits emergency alerts and location data via satellite, ensuring safety for hikers, sailors, and workers in isolated locations worldwide.
Futurewave assembled an integrated team of industrial designers, electronics engineers, and antenna specialists to develop the complete product — from system architecture and antenna integration through hardware prototyping to pre-industrialization readiness. The core challenge was fitting satellite communication hardware, low-power electronics, and power management into a compact, wearable form factor while maintaining a refined, human-centered design.
The black and red colour palette references safety and emergency signalling, combining performance with comfort and visual clarity.
