Shanti is a semi-enclosed meditation chair designed by Futurewave for Inner Design, transforming public indoor spaces into personal sanctuaries for rest and mental well-being. Intended for offices, airports, hotel lobbies, and libraries, the chair provides acoustic and visual privacy without feeling isolating.
Futurewave defined the complete product architecture, from structural engineering to material specification. The frame is crafted from FSC-certified ash wood, while the canopy uses 100% recycled polypropylene fabric that filters natural light to create a calming, breathable atmosphere. The design was engineered for simplified assembly and local manufacturing in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The project demonstrates Futurewave's integrated approach: industrial design, mechanical engineering, sustainable material selection, and design for manufacturing — all handled within one team, from early product definition to production-ready delivery.
