• TITLE: Print Ad for a Beauty Product • TYPE: Advertisement • ROLE: Graphic Design + Photo Retouching • TECHNOLOGY: Photoshop • DESCRIPTION: To stress the logo, reduce the interference of reflections, and correct the coloration, I used the Curves tool for color correction. Then I removed the logo on the physical bottle and smoothed over the surface. Next I overlaid a vector logo, using some warping and layer blending.
• TITLE: Spa Menu • TYPE: Brochure • CLIENT: Class Assignment • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: InDesign + Illustrator + Photoshop • DESCRIPTION: I wanted to highlight its relaxing nature as a place where women can come and let themselves go. An organic illustration came up, and muted hues ensued. I limited the size of the pictures for visual hierarchy. Sampled from a 12-panel concertina fold.
• TITLE: Restaurant Graphics • TYPE: Restaurant Menu • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: InDesign + Illustrator + Photoshop • DESCRIPTION: Using the menu’s valley fold format, I juxtaposed color scheme and color mode to complement the restaurant’s sophisticated atmosphere.
• TITLE: Promotional Brochure for a Travel Agency • TYPE: Brochure • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: InDesign + Photoshop • DESCRIPTION: When designing this brochure, InDesign’s support of transparency and alpha channel in Photoshop enabled me to add features––such as image gradation and text wrap––that weren’t possible with QuarkXPress. The color scheme refers to the national flag.
• TITLE: Stationary for a Professional • TYPE: Business Card • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: Photoshop + Illustrator • DESCRIPTION: The client provided the photograph of a sculpture. I chose a vertical orientation to emphasize the sculpture’s overall shape. After cutting out the figure, I applied a set of layer styles to enhance the ambience, and then modified a script font with a Bézier tool to emphasize the client’s initials.
• TITLE: Art Magazine • TYPE: Magazine Cover • CLIENT: Class Assignment • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: InDesign + Illustrator + Photoshop • DESCRIPTION: Our job was to create a magazine cover with a graphic symbol and typography suggesting the words, “black and white”. Even after thresholding and grayscaling the silhouetted photograph in Photoshop, shades of tonal difference between the zebra stripes and InDesign’s black needed to be corrected. To solve this problem, I linked the image to Illustrator in CMYK mode along with the typography, and placed it in InDesign.
• TITLE: Music Album • TYPE: Album Cover • CLIENT: Class Assignment • ROLE: Graphic Design • TECHNOLOGY: Illustrator + InDesign • DESCRIPTION: The request was to make the design echo both the music and its era. Pathfinder’s Divide was perfect for breaking down intersections into individual segments to convey the style of Blue Note––and especially that of Reid Miles.
