Bento Box - For this project I had to develop a concept and design a childrens wear line in the style of a famous designer, in which case I used bento boxes as my concept and Rei Kawakubo for my designer. I was very fascinated with bento boxes at the time with the variety of color and textures you get in a bento meal. I chose Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons because not only do I admire her for her unconventional/avant garde designs but I thought that such an unusual concept would be her cup of tea.
Collection II: Tea & Coffee - My inspiration for this project was Tea and Coffee for fall '05. I wanted to express the age old traditions and customs of drinking tea and coffee. combined with the rich textures and colors of tea with a modern touch. (from left to right) The first picture is a sleeveless jersey top with organza rosettes and a corduroy skirt with chiffon ruffles and knitted arm warmers. The second picture is a knitted bolero with a silk rosette pin, a knitted tube top, and china silk lined lace cropped pants. The third picture is a chiffon smocked waisted blouse and a long double layered chiffon skirt.
Collection I - Japanese Armor Inspiration - This collection was inspired by Japanese armor. This collection was heavily influenced by the use of geometric forms and linear lines as well as Japanese cultural characteristics. (from left to right) Picture one shows a princess line blazer made from hand quilted brocaded fabric with an obi wrap belt, and low rise, draw string pleated pants. Picture three shows a quilted brocaded wrap top with a pleated chest piece, a floral print obi wrap and a wrap skirt with a pleated center piece.
illustration - This was a project I did for an interview for a boys/young men's position. I was given a concept and then I had to create an illustration and some flat sketches that would be appropriate for the customer.
Afternoon Delights - This was part of a series of boards I did for my Tea and Coffee inspiration for spring '05. My Tea and Coffee inspiration for spring incorporated more floral and pastry motifs. I was more looking at the foods, flowers, china and arrangements associated with putting together a tea party in the spring.
