A team of industrial design students and industry professionals worked to create an educational weather radar exhibit for the Cradle of Aviation Museum, in Long Island NY.
The exhibit allow kids a hands on experience in which they can control and experiment with the outcomes of various weather scenarios.
Exhibit Graphics - A radar pulses out waves of energy. Once the wave hits particles in the air, the energy is reflected back to radar. A bigger surface area droplet will reflect more energy than a smaller droplet.
On a screen above the rotating wheel, an animated character, the "Radar Guy," walks the user through the steps of the game along with an educational explanation.

The Weather Radar Station

An educational weather radar exhibit allowing kids a hands on experience in which they can control and experiment with the outcomes of various weather scenarios. This exhibit was worked on with a team of industrial design students and industry professionals and was showcased at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Long Island, NY.
Our goal was to help our visitors develop an interest in engineering and design through the use of an interactive Weather Radar Station. A radar pulses out waves of energy. Once the wave hits particles in the air, the energy is reflected back to the radar. A bigger surface area droplet will reflect more energy than a smaller droplet. On a screen above the rotating wheel, an animated character walks the user through the steps of the game along with an educational explanation.
