COMPLEXUS: Electric Guitar Design

Being a musician myself, I have come to know the incredible relationship you develop with your instrument. The design of the electric guitar has been played with for years, altering color and shape to create unique personalities and characteristics. I decided to add to that variety by designing a guitar that enhances the close relationship a player has with their instrument. By slightly bending the body of the guitar, I created a more comfortable way to play and interact with the instrument by letting the form of the guitar follow the curve of the musician’s hip. I used woods that had a very natural and warm sense to them, that once again, creates comfort and beauty for the musician to fall in love with. My design process consisted of cardboard and foam models, Solidworks modeling, printing on a CNC machine, and utilizing traditional woodworking and guitar making techniques.
