SFERA - Group Project with Garikoitz Iruretagoiena. The design is a radio alarm that encourages and helps people to wake up in the morning. Sfera is targeted towards people 20+ years and is placed in the bedroom. There are different types of interactions such as pulling on the ball to change the mode it is in from clock to radio and to alarm. Another action is squeezing it to activate sleep mode in which the light gets brighter according to how long the ball is squeezed. Hitting the ball when the alarm goes off sets it in snooze mode, the alarm will go off every 5 minutes and the ball will go up every time the ball is hit. To turn off the alarm after snoozing several times you have to get out of bed and replace the ball at its original height. Sfera is the last and first thing you interact with in the bedroom so it is soft, intimate, personal, quite, and fun.
activekids - Team: Hayat , Mike Albers, Didier Hilhorst Our final concept is based around the parent subscribing to our service. The service provides a device, imago for the child and grants the parents access to our member section. Here the parent can discuss what activities their children are doing with other parents. They also get information about event, in their area. The child can choose a character for the game with which he can buy items. With these items the child creates a unique story that reflects his/her accomplishments. for more : http://courses.interaction-ivrea.it/zoom/course2005/projects/activekids/index.html
Floor Storage - The philosophy: In a 'Single life' people are living in smaller apartments with not much storage. If storage could be in the floor which would allow quick and easy access. The inspiration coming from they Middle Eastern and Asian cultures often sit, relax and sleep on the floor. Tables close to floor and pillows for comfort. The interactions: The boxes would be unseen until they are activated and revealed under the tiles. Objects could be products and any other belongings can be stored in these boxes. The boxes can be taken out of their place in the floor and moved around to be placed in more convenient places. The box lids can be converted into back rests. So you can sit on the floor and lean against them while reading or maybe eating. Some of tiles could be different colours to have diversity in the floor patterns, and the patterns could be changed by moving the boxes around. How it is made: The tiles would be made ofindium tin oxide that would allow two modes. Mode one being the hidding mode, where it can not be seen what is inside the boxes and then mode two is when you reveal what is inside the boxes. As this material we propose is expensive our solution is that the lids could be made of solid pannles. There would be different colour lids so different patterns can be made by moving around the pannles.
