Big Light Switch

Exaggerations of size have always been used for dramatic effect, and are often humorous. This is reliant on peoples understanding of objects normal context for the juxtaposition to be registered. When this is altered subtly or extremely humans detect the change in pattern and depending on the person’s sense of humour responds with a smile or laughter.

The combination of noise, feel and the use of this product is crucial to convey my intended idea of turning on a small bulb on with a huge factory switch. It is the derailing of ones expectation when using the switch which creates the humour. Due to the alteration of context, the switch, along with being humorous to use, makes one perversely aware of ‘normal’ light switches and how everyday objects can be enhanced.
