Jefferson County Colorado was seeking to recruit young, motivated detention deputies from neighboring counties, a challenge, given that this particular line of work is not typically considered desirable among the target group of law enforcement recruits. We raised the profile of the position, adding caché by recognizing and emphasizing the human qualities needed to do the job well, rather than focusing on the detention-specific aspects.
