"The Lovers" 11" x 11" Acrylic paint on mounted, prepared museum board. This was one of the three paintings shown in the Dia de los Muertos show at the Poco Wine Room in Seattle last year. Here the two skulls face each other over a bed of blooming roses. I meant this as a commentary on the fleeting joys of life, which like the roses are so bright now, but will soon fade. Life should be lived for every moment, while you still have it to enjoy.
"Op Art Study #3" 11" x 11" Acrylic paint on illustration board. This was the last of three versions that I did in my 2D Design course with Elroy Christensen at North Seattle Community College. They were color studies inspired in part by the optical art of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley.
"Self Portrait" 9" x 12" Oil paint on canvas panel. This was a test to see not only my features, but how quickly I could capture them. It was painted wet on wet in one afternoon, so I have not felt necessary to develop it further as a painting.
"Kwan Yin Altar" 18" x 24" Oil on canvas. In a private collection. Here Kwan Yin, the bodhisattva of compassion, is featured as a central figure in an altar to her honor, bearing the traditional signs of water and life.
