Start of the grips. One of the blanks is thicker than the other. This allows for the left side grip to have a pronounced thumb rest.

The mold is one sided, so a heavy flat panel was used to make the top of the mold.

Hand made pistol grips
Using hand methods only, I created two sets of wood pistol grips. Wood used is Madagascar Ebony, commonly used in fretboards. One set was used as masters for a silicone mold. After the silicone had cured, urethane was cast for different designs and colors.
