Jigsaw - Plywood Stool
The brief was to design a piece of furniture from one type of standard sheet material. Material optimization and fabrication methods were important factors when generating concepts for my design.
"Jigsaw" is a contemporary stool made from marine grade pacific-maple plywood suitable for indoor & outdoor use. This can range from being in a cafe to a household environment.
A layered fabrication makes the stool very sturdy whilst portraying a lightweight form. The loop shape at the base functions both as a footrest and storage for magazines and newspapers along the sidewall.
