TARGET SHOPPING BAG 2006, NYC Target for Cooper-Hewitt Museum 12"x9" closed | 12"x17"open (aprox) Digital print on cotton canvas, plastic zipper. This bag was comissioned by The Conduit Group as one of the candidates to be chosen by Target as the "gift-bag" for the 2006 National Design Awards given by the Cooper- Hewitt, National Design Museum to honor the best in American design.
What it looks as a wine-carrying bag (with separate compartments for two bottles) becomes a full shopping bag just by unzipping it. When unzipped, the bag reveals a bigger bag, also different in format. On top of that, there is a humorous dialogue held by the graphics printed on the bag: the wine-hiding American paperbag becomes a full European-like groceries bag. After all, it's a lot of us (European designers) working for American companies!
