Design for Manufacturing: Table Saw

The performance of the table saw in accordance to the needs can be evaluated as such where the table saw can support a jigsaw in a position to cut. It is able to connect to a 5-gallon bucket, it provides a flat cutting surface to cut necessary pieces, and is inexpensive. A few potential issues were found with the rip fence. Firstly, the clearance between the brackets and table was very loose, allowing for movement of the rip fence during cuts. The rip fence brackets are secured by a single screw, allowing them to potentially rotate and allow the fence to slip mid-cut. Finally, the method of attaching the rip fence to the table was unclear, with the drawing seeming to indicate that the fence would be screwed into the table at the desired position. This would necessitate screwing and unscrewing the fence for different cuts.
