I knew there would be a challenge appealing to our wide target age range of 8 to 14, so I proposed a concept using replaceable side panels and RGB lighting. Kids can find or craft their own panels to make the headphones uniquely theirs. Fabric swatches, translucent artwork, thin metal or wood or even 3D printed panels allow for endless possibilities that can span the age range. Translucent molded parts carry the original Bose Build Speaker DNA and help reinforce the playful learning aspect.
I adapted an existing backlight design to our application and mocked it up to prove viability.

The second offering in the Bose Build line, these kid's headphones came as a learning kit with acoustic experiments and demonstrations, resulting in a working pair of bluetooth headphones that the child assembles themselves.
