RealNetworks seeks a UX/UI Designer to play a critical role in designing, prototyping, and testing engaging user experiences for our world-class facial recognition platform, SAFR™. Our Designer will work with SAFR’s product and development team to create inspired user experiences that leverage SAFR to solve important human problems with innovative, modern solutions. The role presents an excellent opportunity to work on a pioneering, world-class product for a designer with a strong point of view on human-computer interaction that is confident presenting their work from concept to deliverables and release. It is an ideal role for the designer that excels in a team environment, has strong bias towards decision-making and action, and can effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
-Developing the SAFR user experiences across media (desktop, mobile, web, voice, cameras) in ways that solve human problems;
-Leveraging expertise in human-centered design to shape the end-to-end product experience, creating visual design, graphic production, and specifications for customer/partner-specific implementations from pre-sales through project implementation;
-Collecting, assessing, and acting on customer and user data to improve the product;
-Leading and executing brand design and creative development for multiple platforms;
-Building simple prototypes to test internally and refining solutions based on data, team feedback, and other findings;
-Working with the development team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and to help find creative solutions to technical hurdles; and
-Defining interaction models, user flows, and UI specifications.
This role demands experience in digital consumer software, social, or web products, with strong blue sky/ideation skills, robust holistic systems thinking, deep attention to detail, and passion for making difficult tasks into simple and engaging experiences for customers. Collaboration and product ownership is essential in this role, requiring this UX Designer to be a great communicator who can successfully present and align with our development and implementation teams. Additionally, this UX Designer must be able to work with ambiguity and deliver designs that elevate our user experience.
Specifically, this role requires:
-At least 5 years’ experience designing and building UI for technology products, with focus on mobile user design;
-Experience creating consumer-facing media applications;
-Passion for identifying and solving real technology-user problems;
-A design portfolio showing strong creative skills, ability to generate outstanding design ideas, and thorough understanding of good design process;
-Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Adobe creative suite, Sketch);
-A bachelor's or master's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree; and
-Fluency in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, and user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of user experience principles and techniques.
Our ideal candidate will also offer:
-Motion design ability or experience using animation to communicate and improve user experiences;
-Experience conducting user testing and/or analytical research;
-HTML and CSS knowledge, current on latest responsive design techniques;
-Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed; and
-Experience with or background in visual design.
