In 2012 the Melbourne Fringe Furniture Exhibition focuses on the simple expression of challenging concepts.
It showcases the clarity of vision, economical practice & exemplary understatement which characterizes great furniture design.
The exhibition theme was based on the movie classic Jaws (1975), a great film and source of one of the all-time classic movie quotes. “You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat” - The understated emotion and puritan word choice is perfect as Roy Scheider’s character calls on six small words to sum up the gravest of challenges facing the film’s three heroes.
Mark Watson & Joe.Li created a concept piece titled ‘Spume’ to showcase in 2012 Melbourne Fringe furniture, using DDK’s advanced manufacturing technologies to create 2 easy to create simple shapes that could be easily joined to form many shapes.
Spume captures the mystique of the surf. Girt by sea, the ocean is emblematic of the constancy of contemporary Australian life.
