I worked on a three person team to design and build a car that was propelled forward by a twisting motion of the user's legs. The car was built during a Computer Aided Design course and raced against classmates. Our design was unique in that a spring loaded pin allowed the wheel to switch from a caster wheel to a fixed wheel. A caster wheel was optimal for top speeds, while a fixed wheel was advantageous for starting from a standstill and making high-speed turns.
Final Wiggle Car
The wheel was able to switch from a fixed wheel to a caster wheel by pulling out a spring loaded pin.
