The misuse of plastic materials in our society is going out of proportion when favoring convenience above other virtues. During the research, consumer behavior was analyzed holistically through different lenses of environmental, anthropocentric, and psychological points of view. The survey was conducted to discover current behavioral patterns and their potential shift. Also, several companies which perform a different business model were examined.
The solution features a systematic approach that includes one centralized produce packaging: Good Shell—the name of the new packaging. Using sustainable and compostable Good Shell, one can concentrate his or her fresh fruits and/or vegetables in one place.
The reusable compostable packaging for the organic produce would change the consumer behavior and shrink the amount of plastic packaging polluting the environment.
Raising awareness about not using materials to their full capacity and educate people about the importance of the everyday choice.

Other details of the system include produce stickers, which would be introduced with a barcode for speedy checkout. The stamp on the sticker would indicate the day of purchase, and the amount of stickers would indicate how many times Good Shell has been used.

Alternative Packaging Project

This project deals with Trader Joe's packaging of the organic produce in plastic bags and boxes which promotes a social cognitive discrepancy. As a result of common plastic usage, consumers do not see packaging as an integral part of the product. Despite the fact that recycling programs are available to most consumers, only about 25% of plastic is being recycled. As about other 75%, which "disappears" to nowhere, is jeopardizing current environmental health and future generations well-being.

This project includes writing a thesis, comprehensive research, and design of the solution which is covered in the book. Good Shell box was designed as a component in the systematic solution as well as the set of stickers. Posted is featuring the physical solution parts and explaining product qualities.
