Studio Ghibli - Thesis Project (interstitial space of MoMA PS1)

“Studio Ghibli” exhibition is an enhanced exhibition experience created within the interstitial spaces of MoMA PS1 that coincides with the ‘Journey’ concept.
Studio Ghibli’s animated movies are universally known and can be enjoyed by both children and adults from their respective viewpoints. Using the interstitial spaces of MoMA PS1, the Studio Ghibli exhibition is designed to be in harmony with the existing galleries. This exhibition has its own independent story-telling arc and encourages visitor circulation throughout the entire building.
One characteristic of MoMA PS1 is the different galleries in different spaces, yet transition spaces between galleries are limited in use and can seem meaningless. Therefore, “Studio Ghibli” will parallel visitors’ transitions from space to space. This exhibition also has video, music, and Miyazaki Hayao’s storyboard sketches to connect visitors to the main theme of the exhibition.
