Aloha Y'all

In the fall of 2017, Spare Parts’ Executive Director Mary Elizabeth Cantú and Artist/Educator Kara Michele Salinas traveled to Oahu to see first hand the devastating results of our litter-saturated planet. Trash, especially plastic pollution, washes ashore every second onto the state’s beautiful beaches because of churning gyres (circulating currents) in the Pacific Ocean.
The intent of “Aloha Y’all” is to contrast the romantic imagery of Hawaiian vintage postcards with the harsh reality of ocean pollution; plastic detritus found on the shores on Oahu by Cantú and Salinas on their trip.

Proceeds from your purchase support Spare Parts; San Antonio’s only organization that educates its community about the importance of reuse through arts education. We all know art can motivate action, educate our youth, inspire change and protect our environment.
