Café Silvium

A popular estaurant in Connecticut was seeking a renovation and interior design of its space. Its 1990s interiors no longer stood the test of time. The owners were seeking a fresh, contemporary and warm look to give the feeling of a cozy trattoria to attract new clientele while retaining current clientele. The challenge was to connect the enclosed porch with the inside dining room to create a continuous flow of the space. In addition, the bar itself is used as a wait station and needed to appear more inviting.

Lighter, warmer colors, wood flooring and new furnishings were used with the striking contrast of a dark ceiling. The wall between the porch and dining room was opened up and the floor was leveled. To create more of a wine bar/trattoria feeling, wooden wine crates were used for the front façade of the bar and the crates line one wall with wine bottles.

The restaurant has an incredible following and doubled its business in one year.
